The Divots is the Men's second team at Oxford. Although the standard varies between years, most players tend to be within the 5-15 handicap bracket.
The format of the weekend's matches are identical to the Blues squad with 18 holes of foursomes in the morning, followed by lunch and then 18 holes of foursomes or singles in the afternoon. If you are a keen golfer then the opportunity to play Divots golf should not be passed up. Notable play and results are always recognised by the committee, so it is not uncommon for players to move up from the Divots to the Blues.
One of the most fantastic things about both Blues and Divots Golf is the social aspect of the sport, which helps you to develop a social group outside of your college or department.
The Divots Varsity match took place last year at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, with the team triumphant 12-3. This year's match has unfortunately been postponed as a result of Covid-19.
